Thank you for Discovering the World of Pollination at our Honeybee Festival!

Check back for the date of the 2012 Birds and Bees Festival!

Every year in June, the AHLF joins forces with environmental organizations around the world to host the Honeybee Festival.  Nearly 80% of the world’s crop plants require pollination.  When we think of pollination, we think of birds, bees and butterflies.  But beetles, mosquitoes, bats and even flies transfer pollen between seed plants.  This function is vital for plant reproduction.  Without pollinators, humans and ecosystems cannot survive.  Due to biodiversity threats such as land development, pollution and pesticides, we are losing pollinators around the world at an alarming rate.

Our celebration includes creative crafts and activities for the whole family, live demonstration beehive,  face-painting, and interesting presentations designed to deepen our understanding of the issues facing our fragile ecosystem.
